Hi Everyone,
Burgundy’s global ascendance has driven the trade to the Cru Beaujolais category, which has created demand for barrique-aged, “I-want-to-be-fancy-Burgundy,” Cru Beaujolais, which in turn has created an explosion of huge scores from several critics. When producers see such press, many of them shift toward more extraction and the use of new wood, which means a different type of wine altogether. To add insult to injury, prices begin to skyrocket.
This is a shame. It is almost as though the world has forgotten about what makes all of us love the Beaujolais category in the first place. Nothing on earth delivers more value and more pleasure to those who seek pretty aromatics, purity of fruit, and sublime texture.
What does a customer do?
We have an idea for this Thanksgiving… Let’s figuratively enter the hobbit-hole cave of Domaine Thulon to step back in time and gorge on their throwback Cru Beaujolais wares at a price that sits below most retailers’ on base-level Beaujolais Villages!
Yes – If you seek naked/authentic/organic/old-vine Cru material from Regnie, Chiroubles, or the classic Villages blend, you will not find better values than today’s examples from Domaine Thulon – all featured in one mixed pack!
…to put an exclamation mark on the whole theme today, 2022 and 2023 are great examples of a “back in time” vintage. These are bright, vibrant, opulent examples of their respective villages.
Happy Thanksgiving!
