Hi Everyone,
When it comes to Beaujolais Nouveau, for decades we’ve remained on the sidelines.
This year is different.
This year we can source Nouveau from Domaine Longere.
Many of you know Domaine Longere as home to arguably the best terroir in the Beaujolais-Villages appellation, a very old 5-hectare estate situated on steep pink granite slopes in the shadow of Mount Brouilly and just south of all the Crus. Sixth-generation vigneron Lisa Longere is in the process of taking over the operation for her father, and Lisa’s personal foray into the Nouveau category last year came with a big splash, with her 2024 release gracing various “best of” lists in France.
The land makes all the difference here, with a mineral backbone and depth of flavor that you rarely see in the other 700 or so Nouveau bottlings released into the local French market each year.
…and how does the 2025 look?
The weather was warm, the alcohol is low (12%), and Laura reports that it will arrive with layers of raspberry-flecked Gamay charm.
If you deal in Nouveau you’ll want plenty of this one.
If you have traditionally avoided the Nouveau category, we invite you to jump into the game this morning.
Local delivery on Wednesday before Thanksgiving if ordered today!
